Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Overview

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is the newest addition to the note series of Xiaomi. The Note Series is the most successful series of the brand in India as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 was best seller of 2017 in India. 

Display

The phone comes with a 5.99 display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2160 pixels and a aspect screen ratio of 18:9 which is protected using corning's gorilla glass (however the version is unspecified). Its display is sharper and bright producing 450 nits of brightness. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 price  range in India starts from Rs. 9,999.

Performance and Camera

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is powered by 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and it comes with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded using the hybrid sim slot. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 packs a 12-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 runs Android 7.0 with MIUI on board and is powered by a 4000mAh non removable battery which will surely last upto 1.5 days in a single charge on normal usage. It measures 158.50 x 75.45 x 8.05 (height x width x thickness) and weigh 180.00 grams.

Connectivity

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, FM, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.

Comparison with Predecessor

As compared to last years Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 the Redmi Note 5 has a bigger and sharper display. It also has a better camera than its predecessor and comes with screen buttons and a selfie flash. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 looks nearly similar to the Redmi Note 4 from behind. The Note 5 runs the same hardware as the Note 4 which is snapdragon 625 so there is no much difference in the performance however the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is slightly faster due to better optimisation.

If you own the Xiaomi Redmi note 4 then don't go for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 because the performance is nearly same but if you are using an older device and you want a phone with decent specs under 10000 INR then the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will be bang for your buck. If you can spend a 1000 INR more then Honor 9 lite will be a better pick because Honor is providing newer version of android which is 8.0 oreo, a better dual camera, a better design and a better processor.
